The Power District is accepting applications for an operations technician. This is a full time position with benefits. An operation technician assists in the operation and maintenance of the Power District electrical substations, supervisory control and data acquisition system, and communication systems. An operations technician develops and implements switching programs for the Power District’s electrical grid. Training will be provided by the Power District for this position; however, to be considered applicants must have demonstrated capabilities in at least one of the following areas: substation maintenance, electrical theory, radio or fiber optic communications, information technology, or low voltage wiring. Applicants must submit an application and a resume detailing relevant knowledge from either education or employment in one or more of the required demonstrated capability areas. The position may at times involve lifting, strenuous activity and working extra hours in emergency situations. This employee shall be required to perform manual labor and at times may be required to operate heavy equipment. This position will be scheduled for after-hour standby. This employee will be required to obtain a Nevada Commercial Driver’s License, become certified in first aid and cardio pulmonary resuscitation, and become certified in the District’s lock-out/tag-out procedures. The District will provide training to all employees. Failure to obtain required licenses and certifications may result in termination.
